Small Mammal Patients

Lola Creegan 3-18-10

We regularly see small mammals both for wellness care, injuries, illnesses and dental problems.

Since prey animals show very few obvious outward signs of illness, at least initially, we see all of our small mammal patients once a year for a comprehensive health screening.

Each year we will:

  • Physically examine your pet
  • Check a fecal sample to make sure your pet is not carrying any parasites
  • Discuss any questions or problems with diet, behavior, and husbandry

Bring along pictures of your pet’s enclosure to your appointment. You can also email them before the visit. For current patients up to date on all wellness care, we offer nail trimming.

Our clinic was designed and equipped with the needs of ALL patients in mind. Our surgery, pharmacy, and exam rooms all have the proper tools to treat most small mammal illnesses and injuries. We utilize Sevoflurane gas for sedation or anesthesia which is considered by many anesthesiologists to be the safest anesthetic gas. We can also compound medication into tasty liquids so that small mammals will take it orally.
